Special Olympics 2018 by LUMS Community Service Society

 

On the 17th of February, LUMS Community Service Society successfully held the 2018 edition of the Special Olympics in LUMS, sponsored by JS Bank and Diamond Foam. This event was dedicated to children with special needs. In spirit, it aims at uplifting the self-esteem of these children and their parents as well as providing them with a bouquet of memorable moments. A total of eight hundred delegates participated in the event.

 

They were given a chance to engage in seven different kinds of sports including football, athletics, and badminton. Moreover, the Olympics were not only a fun activity rather they served as a crucial step for the preparation for the Special Olympic games 2019 to be held in Abu Dhabi. Anees Sahab, the head of Special Olympics, advocates that Pakistan will continue to do wonders in the games and bring laurels back home.

 

To serve as an inspiration a player from Pakistan’s national special football team was also present. The day was a perfect amalgamation of strong emotions such as joy, excitement, and pride.  In addition, the interaction of the volunteers from LUMS, the children, and the parents served to be a wholesome experience for all those who were involved. By the end of the event, the participants were observed wanting to visit soon again.
